NAMBUCCA FABLES TOP 2023 LISTS

It was encouraging to see Nambucca Fables make it into a few 2023 fave album lists, as many of you know it was a very personal album for me and I’m honoured that it touched a few hearts.

PODCASTS AND RADIO

I was lucky enough to chat with a few podcasts and radio stations in 2023 – here’s a selection from the past couple of months:

‘AND THIS ONE’S INTRODUCED BY’ 3CR MELBOURNE – here I’ve pre-recorded a preamble for every song on Nambucca Fables. It was a fun concept, I hope you enjoy the insight into the songs.

LITTLE GREEN ROSETTA

I was also fortunate enough to work creatively on a guitar with my great friend at Daddy Mojo Guitars, Lenny Piroth-Roberts in Canada. You may remember that Lenny also painted the album art for my 2019 album Fever Dreams. Lenny built a beautiful, versatile guitar sporting a colour that was based on the dress my Mum is wearing on the cover of Nambucca Fables. This guitar was a long time coming – we started discussing it before Covid! For the gear nerds out there you can get all the details HERE

NEWCASTLE SHOW

I’ll be playing a show with my good friend Jamie Hutchings in Newcastle on Saturday Feb 3rd at The Press Book House. Jamie is on tour promoting his new release and I’ll be opening the night. It will be a solo show for the both of us in a nice intimate setting. Tickets on sale HERE

I might add that Jamie has a beautiful new album out, appropriately titled “A New” – a few weeks ago I produced a clip for the first single “Roustabout” – it features Jamie’s childhood teddy as a special guest. Music Feeds premiered the clip.

“Hutchings’ long-time collaborator Mark Moldre is responsible for the song’s music video, which features the artist’s childhood teddy bear, Simon. “He was recently salvaged from my parents’ house after many decades in the wilderness of their cupboards,” Hutchings said. “Mark referred to him by name throughout the whole process, so by the closing scene we were all pretty bonded to him.”

NAMBUCCA FABLES ON BANDCAMP

Finally, I’ve lowered the prices of Nambucca Fables a little on vinyl and CD at my BANDCAMP STORE. There are less than 20 copies left on deluxe gatefold vinyl. Here are all the singles/clips we released in 2023 to whet your appetite: (PS there’s a brand new clip on the way very soon…)

NEW SUIT – This is a track that is heartbreakingly beautiful in its capture of loss and its quiet celebration of memory and love.” – Backseat Mafia

EVERY WAKING HOUR – “Sometimes music can process the most complicated and grief stricken experiences into quite a jaunty, toe-tapping tune. It’s sometimes the best way to fend off the tears. A great piece of jangle and country rock.” Henry Wagons/Double J

DREAM DECAY – “It is whimsical and slightly unsettling with an undercurrent of something close to joy” – Sunburnt Country Music

HOMECOMING
 – “Mark Moldre might just be the best Australian songwriter you’ve never heard of. Nambucca Fables shows that he should be on your radar.” Jeff Jenkins/Rhythms

Thanks to everyone for all your support in 2023. All the best for the year ahead!

Love
